IEEE Day – 2014 was the fifth time in history, when Engineers worldwide celebrated the anniversary of the first IEEE members gathering to share their technical ideas in 1884.

The IEEE Day team was made up of student volunteers, young professionals and staff. Together, they worked to assure that IEEE Day – 2014 celebration is bigger and more impressive than the last four editions. The principle task of the IEEE Day team was to initiate, motivate and coordinate events and efforts to celebrate this day worldwide. IEEE Day 2014 – Photo Contest was organized with the focus on achieving the abovementioned goal.

Apart from overall contest, there were sub categories in the contest, namely: Best Humanitarian Activity, Best Technical Activity, Best Professional Development Activity, Most Creative, Most Energy, Largest Gathering and Best Landmark Event. IEEE Student Branch of University of Ruhuna managed to secure the title in the Best Landmark Category.
