IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2021

The IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2021 was held during the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student | Young Professionals | Women In Engineering Congress 2021 on January 27th virtually due to the pandemic situation. The Awards Night was held in a full extravaganza for the sixth consecutive year to recognize the continuous efforts of the Section’s IEEE volunteers as they strive to maintain the quality of the initiatives done by the Organizational Units.

Seventeen prestigious awards were given away at Awards Night 2021 under 04 categories as Special Activities Awards, OU awards, Individual Volunteer Awards, and External Recognitions. 

Awards were given out for the following projects and OUs:

The IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2020  was held during the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student/Young Professionals/Women In Engineering Congress 2020 on January 17th virtually due to  the pandemic situation. The Awards Night was held in full extravaganza for the fifth consecutive year to recognize the continuous efforts of the Section’s IEEE volunteers as they strive to maintain the quality of the initiatives done by the Organizational Units.

Six prestigious awards were given away at the Awards Night 2020 which included the ​Best Technical Chapter Activity Award,  ​Membership Retention Award,​ the Best Industry Collaborative Project Award,​ the Best Student Branch Activity Award​, the ​Best Young Professional Activity Award and the ​Best Women in Engineering Activity Award following the practice of the previous year. Awards were given out for the following projects and OUs:

The Awards Night was held in full extravaganza for the fourth consecutive year to recognize the continuous efforts of the Section’s IEEE volunteers as they strive to maintain the quality of the initiatives done by the Organizational Units.

Six prestigious awards were given away at the Awards Night 2019 including the ​Best Technical Chapter Activity Award for the project having had the most strategic importance initiated through a Sectional or Student IEEE technical chapter, along with the ​Membership Retention Award,​ the Best Industry Collaborative Project Award,​ the ​Best Student Branch Activity Award​, the ​Best Young Professional Activity Award and the ​Best Women in Engineering Activity Award following the practice of the previous year. The IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2018 was held during the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student/Young Professionals/Women In Engineering Congress 2018 on 29th December 2018 at Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC). The Awards Night was held in full extravaganza for the third consecutive year to recognize the continuous efforts of the Section’s IEEE volunteers as they strive to maintain the quality of the initiatives done by the Organizational Units.

The night brought together the whole Section for an evening celebrating success and accomplishments. Mr. Chevaan Daniel, the Group Director of The Capital Maharaja Organization Ltd was the distinguished chief guest for the night!

Six prestigious awards were given away at the Awards Night 2018 introducing the ​Best Technical Chapter Activity Award for the project having had the most strategic importance initiated through a Sectional or Student IEEE technical chapter, along with the ​Membership Retention Award,​ the ​Best Industry Collaborative Project Award,​ the ​Best Student Branch Activity Award,​ the ​Best Young Professional Activity Award and the ​Best Women in Engineering Activity Award following the practice of the previous year. IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2017

The IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2017 was held during the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student/Young Professionals/Women In Engineering Congress 2017 on 22nd December 2017 at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. It was held for the second consecutive year with the objective of giving recognition to the most outstanding initiatives by Student Branches and Affinity Groups as a motivation and inspiration to ensure the quality of these initiatives.

Five awards were given away this night introducing the ​Membership Retention Award for the highest membership retention at Student Branch level and the ​Best Industry Collaborative Project Award for the project that has the most interaction with the industry through their partnerships and speaker lineup, along with the Best Student Branch Activity Award, Best Young Professional Activity Award and Best Women in Engineering Activity Award continuing from the previous year.

Professor Saman Halgamuge delivered a keynote for the night on “Data Engineering and Deep Learning to Mine the Mysteries of the Brain” adding to the excitement of the night. Awards were given out for the following projects and OUs:
