The IEEE EMBS Sri Lanka Chapter celebrated EMBS Day 2025 on March 5, 2025, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) in collaboration with the IEEE EMBS Student Branch Chapter at KDU.

The event brought together over 100 participants, including students and professionals, fostering an environment of knowledge-sharing and networking. A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion featuring Dr. Achintha Kondarage (PhD in Biomaterials, Staff Research Manager at Synopsys), Mr. Udara Karasnagoda (Associate Quality and Regulatory Manager, Synergen Technology Labs), Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe (Immediate Past Chair, IEEE Sri Lanka Section, and Tech Lead at 99x), and Mr. Kulunu Weerasoory (Graduate Research Assistant in Biomechanics, University of Moratuwa).

The panelists shared insights on emerging trends and challenges in biomedical engineering, industry expectations, research opportunities, and the importance of professional development, providing valuable guidance to attendees.

The event also underscored the role of the IEEE EMBS Sri Lanka Chapter and the vast opportunities available through IEEE EMBS at both global and local levels. A significant milestone of the celebration was the launch of the IEEE EMBS Sri Lanka Section website, a step forward in enhancing community engagement and visibility.

Adding to the inspiration, Mr. Manodya Nabadawewa, Student Activities Committee Chair of IEEE Sri Lanka Section, shared his experiences, encouraging students and young professionals to actively contribute to IEEE EMBS initiatives. The celebration concluded on a vibrant note with a Sri Lankan cultural dance performance, followed by a ceremonial cake-cutting, symbolising the unity, growth, and collaborative spirit within the IEEE EMBS community.
