IEEE Sri Lanka Section thrives to keep the Student Branches and the officers informed on the responsibilities and the work ethics expected by IEEE and the ways in which they can improve the operation of the Student Branches to best serve the needs of the membership. To realize this objective, IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student Activities Committee organized the Student Branch Officer Training program for the third consecutive year with the participation of over 70 representatives from Student Branches and Student Branch Chapters and Affinity Groups from 18 of 19 Student Branches operating under IEEE Sri Lanka Section.
This year Officer Training session was held on 23rd June 2019 at University of Vocational Technology, Ratmalana. To begin with, Mr. Chanaka Hettige, IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student Activities Committee Chair gave the introduction to the Officer Training session. After that, Prof. Jandimal Jayawardena, IEEE Sri Lanka Section Chair gave a very valuable speech about IEEE and how you can stride forward as passionate volunteers of the Section.
Mr. Pasan Pethiyagoda did a session on How to Reach Regional and Global Opportunities from Sectional Level. That was a very informative and inspirational speech for the office bearers as it showed them the various pathways they can pursue. Before the tea break, Mr. Chanaka Hettige conducted a detailed presentation about How to Handle Student Branch Constitutions and Accounts.
After the tea break, Sectional Student Representative Ms. Tharushi Natasha and Mr. Chanaka Hettige discussed the following topics.

In the midst of this session, a small entertainment event was conducted by IEEE’ans in UoVT. All participants enthusiastically enjoyed this session. The training concluded with the vote of thanks given by the chairperson of the IEEE SB of UoVT. Enormous support given by UoVT volunteers were appreciated by the organizing committee.
