The IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student, Young Professional, and Women in Engineering Congress aka IEEE SL Section SYW Congress 2014 was held on 30th November 2014 for the 3rd consecutive year the University of Colombo, School of Computing premises.
The first ever SL Section SYW congress was held in 2012 centering the University of Moratuwa and it had been widening over the past few years up to the scale at to which it was organized this year with the participation of nearly 300 Students members, Young Professionals and Women in Engineering.
The congress paves the way for the development of a common platform for all the student members, young professionals and women in Engineering to discuss about the current trending advances in the Engineering sector as well as developing the awareness level of the students and professionals on the structure and functionality of IEEE as a whole.
It was a prominent feature in this year’s congress that student members from nearly 10 universities of the country had their representation in it. The record breaking participation at the Women in Engineering session showed the growing enthusiasm of the to-be lady professionals in the Engineering field.
