IEEE GRSS Sri Lanka Chapter’s Forward Thinkers Summit 2024
On December 14, 2024, the IEEE GRSS Sri Lanka Chapter successfully organized the
Forward Thinkers Summit 2024 at Lavenro Garden Hotel, Avissawella. This landmark
event brought together leading experts, researchers, and professionals in remote sensing
and GIS to share advancements, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and discuss future
initiatives.
The summit featured expert talks on cutting-edge geospatial advancements, research
presentations highlighting innovative applications, and panel discussions addressing key
challenges in the field. A dedicated networking session provided opportunities for
interdisciplinary collaborations, fostering professional growth. One of the most impactful
aspects was a competition where the winner received LKR 50,000 to launch a remote
sensing initiative, encouraging innovation among students and professionals.
This event significantly strengthened the Sri Lankan RS & GIS community, facilitated
new research collaborations, and established the Thinkers Summit as an annual flagship
event. By bringing together thought leaders and practitioners, the summit played a crucial
role in shaping the future of geospatial science and technology in Sri Lanka, ensuring
continued engagement and knowledge dissemination within the industry.
