We are excited to bring you the latest updates, achievements, and noteworthy events happenings in our vibrant community.  Let us come together to celebrate the achievements of our members, foster collaboration, and the latest news during the month of August. 

IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members – advised and proctored by an IEEE member, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch – compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. Last year there were over 15,000 competitors.

Do you want to be recognized as an Ethics Champion  of IEEE ? Did you miss the previous opportunity to participate in the Ethics Champion Survey in Phase 1? Do not worry, here’s the opportunity for Phase 2! This is a golden opportunity to be the Ethics Champion of Region10! Do take up the IEEE Code of Ethics awareness assessment, curated by Ethics Awareness and Advancement Committee (EAAC) at Region 10.

If you score 70% and above in this assessment, your knowledge and awareness on IEEE Code of Ethics will win you a recognition. 

First, go through IEEE Code of Ethics and familiarize yourself about the contents. Then, once you have reviewed and understood the IEEE Code of Ethics, you are ready to start your assessment. You could be the “Ethics Champion” of Region10.

The IEEE Electronic Design Competition 2023 Selection Rounds conducted on 2nd of September 2023 at University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Jaffna and University of Ruhuna. 

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel joined with IEEE Electronic Design Competition 2023 as a Bronze partner.

IEEE Sections Congress, the triennial flagship event hosted by MGA, brings together volunteer leaders from every member country to share ideas and solutions. It was held in Ottawa, Canada from 11th to 13th August 2023.  

Volunteer leaders from around the world was meet in the Shaw Centre, Ottawa, to exchange ideas and learn about the products and programs IEEE offers to members in their local areas. Among the attendees, delegates from Sri Lanka made a significant impact, showcasing their nation's technological prowess on a global stage.

The IEEE R10 Robotics Competition 2023 was held with the theme “Robots for Managing Climate Change for a Better World". Final round was held at University of Moratuwa on the 3rd of August 2023.

The first prize won by Team Ecobots from the University of Ruhuna. Team Robonauts, from the University of Ruhuna, secured second place and third place secured by Team Dronematics from the University of Moratuwa. The R10 Robotics Competition is a globally recognized event that celebrates the advancements in robotics and promotes collaboration and innovation in the field.
