IEEE R10 Robotics Competition - Sri Lanka Section Local Rounds

The IEEE R10 Robotics Competition 2023 - Sri Lanka Section Local Rounds are here with the theme: Robotics for managing climate change for a better world. With the unwavering support of the IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Chapter, the IEEE Sri Lanka Section proudly presents this incredible opportunity to explore the limitless potential of robotics for a better future.
The first workshop conducted by Prof. Ruwan Gopura and Dr. Hirushie Karunathilake. The second workshop featured the esteemed guest speakers Prof. Chandima D. Pathirana and Dr. Viraj Muthugala shared their expertise and insights on the importance of robust sensing capabilities in robotics hardware for effective data collection.

IEEE Volunteer Training Program 2023

The IEEE Sri Lanka Section, in collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka, presents IEEE Sri Lanka Section Volunteer Training Program 2023 was held on 10th June at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).
The event, which was attended by enthusiastic participants, offered invaluable knowledge and experiences from experts. Through engaging sessions and networking opportunities, students gained unique insights, expanded their networks, and fostered personal and professional growth. The program aimed to provide training to National Level and Student Branch Level volunteers that will be beneficial for their volunteer roles as well as professional careers.

Empowering Women in STEM : International WIE Day Celebration
|

|
Discover the dynamic world of STEM and the incredible women driving innovation at the International Women in Engineering (WIE) Day 2023 organized by the IEEE WIE Sri Lanka Section on 24th June at Dialog Auditorium, Dialog Axiata PLC.
The event featured an exciting line up of sessions and panel discussions, including topics such as "Engineering Approach to Enterprise Software Development" by Ms. Anuradha Mudannayake, a Quality Engineering Lead at Wiley Sri Lanka, and 'Balancing Act - Work-Life Balance of Women Engineers' featuring an array of empowering professionals. Staying true to the word, the day did prove to be a real celebration of the high-achieving women in STEM in Sri Lanka!

IEEE SL SIGHT Events Week - 10th to 16th of June 2023
|
|
|
IEEE Sri Lanka Section SIGHT recently organized the "IEEE SL SIGHT Events Week" from the 10th to the 16th of June 2023.
Following the installation of the filtration system in the past week, during the "Opening Ceremony of the Filter of Hope" on the 15th of June 2023, the RO Water Filtration system was handed over to the community, marking a significant milestone in providing clean water to the Peletiyawa community. Simultaneously, on the same day, "IEEE Nanasa" organized a session focused on promoting STEM education among students in the area. Continuing the efforts to empower students, SLInspire organized the "Career Compass", Career Guidance session on the 16th of June 2023, at Maguldamana Maha Vidyalaya.
This session aimed to equip students with valuable insights into various career opportunities and foster the development of essential professional skills. It is certain that the IEEE SL SIGHT Events Week demonstrated the transformative power of humanitarian initiatives driven by technology.

IEEE PES Sri Lanka Chapter - Tech Talk on Role of Electricity Markets: Experiences from Australian System
|
IEEE PES Sri Lanka Chapter organized a webinar "Role of Electricity Markets: Experiences from Australian System" on 23rd of June 2023. This Tech Talk was conducted by Dr. Shantha Ranatunga. Dr. Shantha has a background in Electrical Engineering. He has been involved in research, development, and operation of electricity markets in Australia and New Zealand for close to 30 years, which led to his Masters's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of NSW, Sydney, Australia, and the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

The MGA Training Committee is pleased to announce the launch of the 2023 IEEE MGA Volunteer Leadership Training (VoLT) Program. The VoLT Program invites volunteers who have the desire to continue growing as IEEE volunteers and lead their local units to complete the program’s prerequisite courses. Prospective candidates can apply to the program from now until 31 July 2023. Along with applications, candidates must have completed the eight prerequisite courses and submitted their endorsements by the deadline in order to be considered.
