Initium Promo 2.0; the promotional week of the IEEE Student Branch of SLIIT for expanding the member base, was held from 19th May to 24th May. It went on from 8.30am to 5.30pm at two different places in SLIIT. Starting from the post on “What is IEEE” and to explaining about the affinity groups as well as the student chapters involved with the student branch, there had been several posts on social media, focusing on all the faculties at SLIIT. Spreading the word about IEEE for the undergraduates from the Computing Faculty as well as the Engineering Faculty, along with the key intentions of IEEE, and the benefits that personnel can gain from IEEE, it was clear that many of the undergraduates were interested in join hands with the largest technical professional organization of the world. Ranging from the first years to the fourth years, there had been many registrations up until the closing date as well as after that. The IEEE Student Branch of SLIIT was hard working enough to get the award for the ‘Highest Membership Retention’ at the SLSYW Congress 2018 and this year, targeting for a greater member involvement, the branch had been able to get 150 odd registrations, marking the end of a successful promotional week.
