The Electronic Design Competition is another contest which challenges the University students to come up with a design to tackle a given problem within a limited time frame. Organized by the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, this is held annually to popularize electronic designing among university students and thereby to establish a solid foundation for a sustainable electronic industry in Sri Lanka.
In the 2013 edition of the competition, two groups from IEEE Student Branch of University of Peradeniya secured both first and second place, while the third place was secured by a team from IEEE Student Branch of University of Moratuwa.
In the 2014 edition of the competition, a group from IEEE Student Branch of University of Peradeniya secured the first place, two teams from IEEE Student Branches of University of Peradeniya and University of Ruhuna shared the second place, while the third place was secured by a team from IEEE Student Branch of University of Moratuwa.
