This indicates that IEEE no longer serves only for Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Members from ample amount of domains can excel in their studies and careers via IEEE membership.

IEEE Societies & Communities

With the members spanning 165 countries across the globe, this world’s largest professional association comprises of a wide variety of groups, each with the objective of catering to different technological purposes.

There are two ways to get involved with IEEE: by area of interest (knowledge groups) or by geographic location (in your area)

IEEE knowledge groups are member- and volunteer-driven communities, providing cutting-edge research and knowledge on various topics. These include, societies, technical councils, technical committees, Standards Association and working groups and virtual networks.

Apart from this categorization IEEE is divided into ten worldwide geographic regions. Within the regions, there are local sections, chapters and affinity groups. Together, these units conduct over 10,000 meetings a year and enable members to network and explore their technical interests as a community.
